Laser Skin Rejuvenation
Laser Skin Rejuvenation Benefits for Damaged Skin
Laser skin rejuvenation, also known as a “laser peel”, is the one
solution that you may want to consider if you (1) have wrinkles and fine
lines on your face, (2) have skin that has a surface that is uneven due to
scarring from acne, or (3) have redness and age spots (hyperpigmentation).
Lasers can help to rejuvenate your skin, removing many of the signs of aging
and damage from the sun. You’ll also notice a tightening of your skin which
will make it feel healthier. Laser wrinkle removal will leave you feeling
better about yourself at any age!
Women are always looking for a facial treatment that will leave their skin
smooth, firm, and young looking. Laser resurfacing is one of several
invasive procedures that are proving to be effective in the removal of the
signs of ageing so that your skin looks and feels healthy once again. Some
studies also show that laser treatments will benefit some precancerous
conditions such as lesions on the skin as well as severe acne.
The results of laser rejuvenation will depend a great deal on amount of
damage that has already occurred to your skin. Skin rejuvenates quite easily
if it’s been well cared for over the years. This is why it’s important to
start a skin care program as soon as you can, no matter how young you are.
As you age the damage to the layers of your skin increases and each wrinkle
becomes harder to remove. When you take care of your skin with proper
cleansing and moisturizing you reduce the amount of wrinkles and other signs
of aging to your face.
Laser Resurfacing Procedure
A carbon dioxide laser is used to perform the surgery. A beam of high
energy light is used to reduce wrinkles, lines, scars, and blemishes.
Damaged and aging skin is removed one layer at a time. The laser will be
specifically customized to your individual skin and for each area of your
face. The delicate skin around your eyelids will require a more gentle
treatment than the skin on your cheeks, forehead, and upper lip.
Laser treatment is usually performed under local anesthesia and requires no
overnight stay in a hospital. However, there are some cases where the
procedure requires sedation. The laser is used to remove the skin’s
superficial layer through the use of a constant pulse. Your doctor will be
able to control the depth which the laser penetrates your skin based on the
amount of damage that your skin has sustained.
Recovery Time from Laser Surgery
After the laser surgery has been performed your doctor will give you
precise instructions to follow and you’ll be able to go home. Some of the
treated areas on your skin, such as your cheeks, may be covered with tape
that contains healing ointments. Most women recover fully from laser
rejuvenation in about eight to ten days although there will be some degree
of redness for anywhere from one to six months. You’ll be able to wear
makeup after about ten days but make sure that you apply your makeup
carefully and sparingly for another month.
Once wrinkles, fine lines, and skin unevenness have been corrected and
removed through the use of the laser rejuvenation procedure you can continue
with your regular skin care program although you may want to ensure that
you’re using products that are rich in anti aging skin care ingredients such
as Vitamin A and green tea. After you’ve completed the laser treatment
you’ll want to do all that you can to slow the return of wrinkles, fine
lines, uneven skin pigmentation, and age spots to your skin. Laser
rejuvenation is all about the removal of layers of damaged skin so that the
result is a smoother and fresher complexion.
